As it has already become clear, Kubica has been confirmed to test for Renault in Hungary next week. And with the increased speculations of his F1 return, this test is now the best confirmation fans have got so far that this might actually happen. And his employment might even get real after the summer break as rumours suggest following Palmer's poor performance since the beginning of the season. Here are a few ways in which his potential return might affect F1:
Sainz Would Stay in Toro Rosso
There were some recent rumours that Renault would make an offer for the Toro Rosso's driver following his increasing impatience of joining a team where he will have the potential to fight for winning races. However, with Kubica joining Renault, their line-up becomes pretty stable as both Nico Hulkenberg and him have proved themselves over the years to be one of the best drivers out there. Yes, Kubica may take some time to adjust, but most fans are certain that his talent will eventually prevail. Besides, he surely is motivated and determined enough to fight his way back.
Kvyat's place in F1 Would be Under a Serious Threat
Besides Palmer, the other guy who certainly does not long for Kubica's return is Daniil Kvyat. The Russian driver would have benefited should Sainz have moved to Renault, because he would have got Pierre Gasly as his teammate. Now, however, with Sainz most likely staying, and Kvyat's average performances, Toro Rosso would want to give Gasly a chance as he proved himself to be talented enough to drive in F1.
Fans Would Benefit
One thing is for sure. We, the fans, would benefit from such a move, because Kubica is a driver that is liked by the neutral fans, no one dislikes him. Besides, he certainly was one of the best drivers on the grid when he used to race several years ago, and if he is in a similar form, the midfield would become even more tight than it is now which will make for great races to come.
