The Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov defeats the 11th seed in Australian Open, David Goffin, in three consecutive sets with the final score 6:3 6:2 6:4. Dimitrov had a few problem throughout the sets but this win improves his ATP ranking with 3 positions and at this point, his is No 12 rank list.
Dimitrov made the first break early in the set to get a 3:0 lead. Goffin returned the break and equalized the score. The Bulgarian managed to remain concentrated and took his chances in the following games to close the set.
The second set began with an early break for Dimitrov. Goffin still felt unconfident in his shots and was not able to put under pressure his opponent. Grigor showed his class and continued with his good game. He made a second break and finished the second set with 6 games to 2.
In the beginning of the third set, both players were able to win their service games. In the middle, however, Dimitrov made the decisive step in winning the third set and the quarterfinal. He missed two match points on the Belgian's serve but was able to close the set on his serve without any problems.
Grigor has never played a semi-final in this Grand-Slam tournament. The Bulgarian shows mental and physical stability since the beginning of the tournament and, according to Mats Wilander, has good chances of winning the title.
