This is SportsNAC's new rubric, Football Weekend. Here, we are going to write about the most curious results and exciting matches in the top leagues of Europe.
Premier League
- Manchester City - Middlesbrough 1:1
After this Wednesday's triumph over Barcelona, the Citizens were hosting a far more easy opponent. And as a team that is pursuing the title, they had to ensure the three points. Everything was going according to their plans until the 90th minute header by De Roon which gave Middlesbrough a worthy point. With Chelsea defeating Everton 5:0, Man City are now one point behind them on the second place. And should Arsenal and Liverpool win their matches tomorrow, City would drop to fourth.
Seria A
- Napoli - Lazio 1:1
The battle in Seria A is always tight for the places behind Juventus. And with only 3 places guaranteeing a Champions League spot and 7 teams that fight for them, every point costs much. Especially in derbies like this one. Keeping it tied, Lazio managed to stay provisionally on the third place and keep Napoli one point behind. It will be an intense campaign as Milan, Roma, and Fiorentina also have high ambitions.
La Liga
- Real Sociedad - Atletico Madrid 2:0
The bomb this weekend exploded in the La Liga match between these two teams as the Champions League finalist and a title pretender dropped 3 points against the 6th in the league. They are now 3rd and 3 points behind Real and Barcelona, but these two teams are with a match less. So this defeat would most probably separate Atletico by as much as 6 points from the top, which are always hard to recover in Spain.
Bundesliga
- Bayern Munich - Hoffenheim 1:1
The undoubted pretender for the title in Germany, Bayern Munich, unexpectedly dropped 2 points against the gaining momentum team of Hoffenheim. Hoffenheim, who were near the relegation zone last year, are currently ranked 3rd and with this prestigious draw on Allianz Arena, their ambitions now become evident.
