Mutua Madrid Open Draws and Comments


Men's Draw:




First seed is the world no1 Novak Djokovic who in the 1st round at his last clay court tournament. This raises some questions about his form and chances to win RG 2016. The masters in Madrid is a great chance to prepare for the 2nd tournament of the Grand Salm and bring back his form.

Second seed is Andy Murray who reached the semifinals in Monter Carlo and lost in the semifinals against Rafeal Nadal. The nine times champion of French Open brings back his form on his favorite surface. He won the masters in Monte Carlo and the tournament in Barcelona. Mutua Madrid Open is the last tournament before Rome that preceeds RG. Nadal is chasing his 5th title at Madrid.

Roger Federer participates in his first tournament from several weeks since he had injured his leg during a walk in the park. It is questionable if the Maestro will be able to fight for the title in Madrid this year. Still his elegant style of playing and gentlesness contribute a lot to the atmosphere of the tournament.

Women's Draw:


The greatest surprise is that the world no1 Serena Williams is not going to play in the tournament. She reported that she is very sick and she won't be able to give 100% of herslef on the court. Apperently, show is not going to able to win her 3rd title at Mutua Madrid Open.

Because of Serena's absence Radwanska is going to be the top-seeded player. She has not won the tournament before and this is great opportunity for her and the other players to win the title.

Second seed is the German Angelique Kerber who won Australia Open 2016. In addition to that, she won a the title of BMW Open in Germany. That gives the tennis player a huge amount of confidence for the upcoming tournaments. However, the young American star Sloane Stephens is going to be a great challenge for Kerber.
