| Halep defeats Cibulkova to win her first title in Madrid |
Simona Halep played wonderful tennis during this week. She dropped only one set on her way to the final. The Romanian Star had some injuries for a long period of time which did not allow her to play on the top of her abilities. However, with the title in Madrid, she demonstrates that she is ready to be a top player again and attack the first place in the rankings which belongs to Serena Williams now.
For less than an hour and thirty minutes, Halep defeated Dominica Cibulkova at the final score of 6:2 6:4. In the first set, there was a total dominance of the Romanian. In second things were not very different, Simona broke the serve of her opponent early in the set and kept her advantage till the end. She finished the match with an ace which gave her 1000 points for the WTA rankings and 912, 900 euros.
