Atletico becomes the first team to reach the Champions League finals this year by eliminating Bayern. The match in Munich yesterday finished 2:1 for the Germans, but that was enough for Atletico as they have more goals away than their opponents. It was a dramatic match which kept the suspension literally until the final whistle. Two penalties were missed by either side as well.
Xabi Alonso put Bayern ahead in the 31 minute after a deflected free kick. Muller missed a penalty a few minutes later. Griezman leveled again in the 54th minute and brought Atletico closer to the final, but with half an hour until the end Bayern had plenty of time to score turn it round. Lewandowski brought the Germans closer to the victory with a close range header in the 74th minute. Torres missed a penalty 6 minutes before the end, but it did not turn to be crucial.
Atletico will play either Manchester City or Real Madrid in the final in Milan on the 28th of May.
