Hamilton Wins Pole Position for Tomorrow

Hamilton was faster than the other in the qualifications and he won the pole position for the final tomorrow. He finished only 0.077 ahead of his teammate and current leader for 2016, Niko Rosberg. As expected, third was Vettel, followed by Raikkonen. In contrast to the first 2 practices on Friday, today Ferrari showed that they could be a threat to Mercedes as Vettel won the 3rd practice and finished only half a second slower than Hamilton in the qualifications. Thus we can expect a real battle going on tomorrow. Here are some statistics before the final tomorrow (click here to watch it live):

  • Niko Rosberg won the first two practices, while Vettel won the third one and Hamilton was the fastest during qualifications. This places them as the top favorites for the final and it is almost sure that the winner will be one of them.
  • Both Vettel (2012, 2013) and Hamilton (2014, 2015) won the Bahrain GP twice. Rosberg has never won it.
  • Hamilton made a new lap record during the qualifications today with his 1:29.493. Last year, the fastest lap was produced by Kimi Raikkonen.
