Reds Face Reds in Europa League's Round of 16 Derby (Liverpool-Man United preview)

Liverpool hosts their English rivals, Manchester United, tonight at Anfield in the Europa League's round of 16. This will be the first time since 1973 when two English clubs face one another in Europe. The two sides have already played 2 league matches this season in which United won both times. In fact, they have 4 consecutive victories against the Merseysides. However, tonight's game has taken on added significance since the winners of Europa League qualify for CL's groups next season, something that is a goal for both teams.
There are many key players missing the match for both sides. For Liverpool Divock Origi and Jon Flanagan won't be available, while James Milner's appearance remains under a question. The list for United is much broader. Van Gaal could not count on Jesse Lingard, Wayne Rooney, Ashley Young, Will Keane, and Luke Shaw.
An interesting fact is that United has lost only one out of their nine meetings with English teams in European tournaments. However, they lost four of their last five away matches in Europe.
