Surprises in the European 

tournaments this week

   This week was a complete festival for the football fans around the world. After more than 2 months, Europe's biggest tournaments, Champions League and Europa League, were back with many derbies and matches full of goals, emotions, and tied battles. And while the neutral fans enjoyed the battles between Europe's best teams, the fans whose favorite teams were involved in the contest followed their favorites with even greater passion. Some of them were pleased with their team's performance and some of them at least tasted the emotion. However, some fans were completely disappointed with their favorites since they performed lousy and now their participation in the next round is under a big question. 

   1/ Midtjyland vs Manchester United - Even though United does not perform well this season either in Premier League and European tournaments, Midtjyland are not a team the Reds should be afraid of. Or that's what most specialists thought until tonight. Manchester played a frustrating match and were surprised by the outsiders losing 2:1. The only consolation for them now is that there is still one more match which is next week on Old Traford. 

   2/ Villareal vs Napoli - Villareal's win yesterday may not be considered that much as a surprise, but however taking into account that Napoli is announced as a favorite by most specialists, they had to perform better and at least score a goal. 1:0 away is not something the Italians are not capable of dealing with in the second match, but they must be careful now not to concede a goal in Neapol next week. 

   3/ Roma vs Real Madrid - Most people would not call that a surprise, but for me it definitely is such. Roma performed better recently and they also had many chances in the match. This was not enough for them and they lost the match in Rome by 0:2. It seems that Real are already in the next stage, but the same happened last year against Schalke when the Germans were close to eliminate Real after the same result in the first leg so match in Madrid would not be less interesting than the first one for sure. 

   4/ PSG vs Chelsea - PSG won their match 2:1, but they showed many weaknesses in defense which lead to a goal and many scoring chances for Chelsea. This result is more in favor for Chelsea since a 1:0 win in London would be enough for them to advance to the next stage. And if PSG play the same way in defense as they did on Tuesday, they may be eliminated too early this year.
