Pablo Cuevas defeated Guido Pella in the final of the ATP 500 Rio Open to win his fourth ATP title. He won the match 6:4 6:7 6:4 in a marathon match that lasted over 2 hours. Cuevas made 14 aces and 29 winners and converted 2 break points during the match.
This was the first final in ATP 500 since 2011 year between unseeded players and it was also marked as Pella's first ATP final.
